Shanghai - Lighting the Bund Presentation

Representation of L’Observatoire International in Shanghai for an international design competition commissioned by the City of Shanghai for the lighting of the Bund.
CHALLENGE
To communicate a complex urban-lighting proposal to the municipal decision-makers responsible for one of Shanghai’s most recognizable public environments, within the highly formal setting of an international design competition.
PROCESS
Sent to Shanghai by L’Observatoire International, I represented the studio and presented Herve Descottes' lighting concept directly to the city’s review body, including municipal and Communist Party representatives. The presentation required translating the design team’s architectural and lighting strategy into a clear argument at the scale of the city.
OUTCOME
The presentation placed the work of L’Observatoire before Shanghai’s decision-makers as part of an international competition for the future nighttime identity of the Bund, while positioning me as the studio’s representative responsible for communicating and defending the proposal.
